Old gold in Present-Day English

Public domain classics, simplified into Present-Day English (PDE), and shared as bite-size snippets on social media.

Many great books are free to read but hard going: long sentences, old words, and references nobody explains anymore. The parrot retells them in plain, modern English while keeping the meaning, the story and the credit to the original author.

The best parts go out as short snippets on social media: a passage, a lesson or a line worth hearing again, with a pointer back to the full book.

Why it exists: good books shouldn't be locked behind old language. A snippet in a feed can be the thing that gets someone to pick up the whole book.

Word Remix

A word game. One long word, and as many smaller words as you can pull out of it.

A game night idea, built into something you can open on a phone. A shared daily word, a random word for practice, and a head-to-head race. No account needed. Still a beta.

Why it exists: a small, complete thing to take from idea to live site, and a way to find out what AI-assisted building is good at.

Books in low-resource languages

Using AI translation to grow the pool of reading material in low-resource languages.

Openly licensed texts translated with models, then corrected by a speaker. The output is books; the by-product is parallel text, which these languages are short of.

Why it exists: many languages have very little printed material, and a machine draft makes the job small enough for one person to start.
